Bicycle Dreams, a film about the RAAM (Race Across America), will be making it’s Wichita debut this Friday, June 17th. The film, which will be screened at the Murdock Theater (536 N. Broadway, Wichita), documents the amazing journey these riders make as they race across the United States. This event marks the passing through of the riders in our neighboring cities, Maize and Park City, on or around the few days following the movie. Showtime is at 7:30pm.
You may remember our good friend, Diego Ballesteros, from last year’s RAAM event. He was tragically hit during the last mile of his leg ending in Benton, KS, by a distracted motorist on Highway 254, at the Sedgwick/Butler County line. Local cycling advocate and bicycle shop owner, Ruth Holiday, and others, will be sponsoring a booth at the event to update movie goers of Diego’s current status, and to help try to raise the final $8000 of the bills incurred to help send him home to his native Spain.
Please show your support for RAAM, Diego and cyclists in Wichita by attending this event. It has been named by many cycling publications as the best cycling movie ever. Watch a trailer by visiting www.bicycledreamsmovie.com.
