Favorite Routes around town
21st Street to Cheney State Park – Sedgwick County Park is a great place to start bike rides and 21st Street North is one of the most popular cycling routes on the West side. It can be done as a simple out and back. This route returns on 29th Street to add a little variety. The route can easily be shortened by turning back or by going to 29th Street on any of the several paved roads. Click for Google Maps and Strava.
Redbud Trail to Santa Fe Lake Loop – Great route to unlearn pavement! Starts at Bike Walk Wichita and takes the Redbud Trail (paved) to Woodlawn, where it continues as gravel, or for paved go up to 21st and take that to Santa Fe Lake Road to the park. Office is on the South side, through main entrance. Hike/Bike-in camping is on the North side. Click for Google Maps and Strava.
28 Mile E Wichita Route – A nice route along East Wichita’s Bike Paths, with some roads and paved paths. Click for Google Maps and Strava.
Thunder Road – A Wichita Classic, some of the nicest roads in the area, especially Thunder Road near Augusta. Click for Google Maps and Strava.
East Wichita to Belle Plaine – A beautiful ride on either route. This map shows both the classic Greenwich Road route (more open 2 lane road) as well as an Oliver route, which is more in town and quite a bit of side streets. Laura’s in Mulvane (halfway there) is a fine spot for breakfast. Be sure to visit the Arboretum in Belle Plaine! Click for Google Maps and Strava – Oliver route or Strava – Greenwich route..
