We are blessed in Wichita to have numerous bicycle and pedestrian-related infrastructure and policy projects occurring; our city is truly transforming! Residents, local businesses, and community partners can help shape these projects and ensure resources are best used to address our needs and desires. BWW’s Advocacy Team is tracking and engaging residents in dozens of projects, here’s a list of projects you may be interested in.

Waco – 13th to MurdockRestriping of street to 3 lanes.
9th & McLeanInstall a signalized crosswalk to connect seniors, bike commuters & students to Ark River Path. Reduce speeding issues.
Mt Vernon – Broadway to SE BlvdBike lanes and side-paths will be installed along Mt Vernon. Road will be re-striped.
Southcentral Neighborhood PlanA plan looking at transportation, safety, and improvements along the S. Broadway corridor
Hoover Road – Sedgwick County Park to 29th St. N.Construct a multi-use path from the park to 29th St N. Includes a signalized crossing at Hoover and Zoo Blvd.
Greenwich Road – Harry to PawneeConstruct a 3-lane roadway with a multi-use path on the west side of Greenwich.
Pawnee – Webb to GreenwichConstruct a 3-lane roadway with a multi-use path on the north side of Pawnee.
East Kellogg & GreenwichConstruct freeway. Greenwich road will have a 10′ multi-use path on the west side. Sidewalks along the frontage roads, including the connection south of Kellogg from Zelda to 127th E.
Kellogg and I-235 InterchangeCrosswalk provisions completed at Kellogg & West Street for future Prairie Sunset Trail Crossing.
West Street – Kellogg to HarryImprove 5-lane roadway with sidewalks on both sides.
West Street – Harry to PawneeImprove 5-lane roadway with sidewalks on both sides.
Downtown Signal SynchronizationComputerization and control of downtown traffic signals; addition of pedestrian push buttons to all signals.
9th St – I-135 to HillsideRe-construct roadway to 3-lanes with a 10′ multi-use path along the south side, provides connection to the Redbud Path.
Intersection: 45th & HillsideConstruct left turn lanes and install traffic signals. No Bike/Ped facilities currently planned.
127th Street – 13th to 21stBeing designed.
13th St. N. – Azure to 135th St. W.Construct 3-lane roadway.
Mt. Vernon – Hillside to the westRe-construct roadway and install on-street bike lanes & improve sidewalks.

BWW is a resident-led organization and we are looking for individuals and partners passionate about bike lanes, sidewalks, and connectivity to join our Advocacy Team.

Advocacy Ambassadors adopt a bike/pedestrian-related project(s) to help better track, inform & engage residents. They stay on top of developments, share intel, and strategize with the Advocacy Team. Ambassadors will determine what projects and at what level they want to engage, there is no required time commitment. Ambassadors will receive private access to project intel, advocacy training, and resources.
