The 2022 Redbud Trail Signage project funded by Wesley Healthcare, dedication commenced on May 19th, 2022, at the Woodlawn and 17th St Redbud Trailhead. A press conference was held, with Wichita Mayor Whipple, the Shocker Neighborhood Coalition, and our Fairmount connector Cierra, (photos below). New metal post wayfinding signs and trail pavement markers were installed on the Hillside to Woodlawn Redbud corridor. The Redbud Trail is a rail-trail conversion on a former Burlington Northern/Santa Fe rail corridor that stretches from the I-135 Canal Route in Wichita, and past Augusta, about 11 miles. The trail runs through Wichita and is beside the Fairmount Neighborhood from 13th St to E 17th St.
