We have three opportunities to make our voice heard to support people walking and bicycling in our community! This is exciting, as the city is using up-to-date standards for transportation choices – not everyone uses 37th Street in a car!
Design work is currently underway for improvements to 37th Street North between Oliver and Woodlawn. The proposed project consists of widening the street and upgrading to an urban section with curb & gutter and underground storm sewer. On-street bike lanes and sidewalks will also be part of the improvements. Construction is planned to begin in the spring of 2016 and be completed in late 2016.
Opportunity 1
The proposed improvements will be presented to the Bel Aire City Council on February 17, 2015, at 7 p.m. The meeting will held at the Bel Aire City Hall, 7651 East Central Park Avenue in Bel Aire. There will be an informal open house prior to the meeting to display drawings and answer questions at 6:30 p.m.
Opportunity 2
The plan will also be presented at the City of Wichita District I Advisory Board on March 9, 2015, at 6:30 pm. The meeting will held be at the Atwater Neighborhood Resource Center, 2755 E. 19th St. N.
Opportunity 3
The Wichita City Council public hearing on this project is scheduled for April 21, 2015, in the City Council Chambers, 1st Floor City Hall, 455 N. Main. The City Council meeting will begin at 9 a.m.
