W2R Bike Competition among highlights of BWW’s annual fundraiser

For the past decade [skipping 2020], Bike Walk Wichita has been hosting an annual movie event that serves as a time for BWW friends, new and old, to gather and celebrate our growing bike/ped community. The event serves as BWW’s main fundraiser to ensure our BWW HQ’s remains open, ReCycle wheels are spinning, and our mission continues. 

We’re thrilled to bring Wheels to Reels back this year in a new location, the Historic Starlite Drive-In Theatre. The outdoor venue gives us ample room to host the bike + gear competition that has become a large part of the annual event and film screening. Attendees ride or haul in their best bikes + gear to display, show-off race accomplishments, new additions to collections, and compete for bragging rights amongst ICT’s growing bike culture scene.

Categories include BMX, Vintage Style, Bike Packing/Adventure (with gear set up), Trikes, E-bikes + Trikes, Custom, and Endurance/Distance/Race. Event ticket purchase is necessary to enter the competition. Participants can pre-register via the link on our website ,www.bikewalkwichita.org/wheelstoreels/, or at the event.

Local judges make the rounds and vote on the top picks in each category. Winners will be announced prior to the film screening of the documentary Bike Love, Filmed by Bike. Prizes include gift certificates to the The Nifty Nuthouse in Wichita, your bike and photo published via BWW media channels, and the admiration of ICT’s booming bike culture scene.
